MICRO-CONTROLLER BASED ELECTRONIC TWIST TESTER, Model "TT-MCT" has been designed specially to meet the growing demand of the textile industry for an accurate instrument to measure the TPM (Twist per Meter) or TPI (Twist per Inch) of the twisted yarn. Model TT-MCT is a motor driven fully automatic instrument with auto stop facility for motor with built in sensor. The instrument has facility of both untwist or untwist/twist methods for measurement of TPM of twisted yarn. 16-Character LCD display unit gives TPM/TPI values with 'S' or 'Z' type of twist. It has facility of storage of 20 sample readings with sample number or average value of 20 readings. The instrument has also facility to set the desired test length of the yarn with lead screw and nut mechanism driven by motor.
A. Right Side Cover :-
I. POWER ON/OFF SWITCH: This switch controls the mains supply to the instrument. This is placed at the back of right side cover near the main cable entry point.
II MAINS FUSE HOLDER: This is placed adjacent to 'ON/OFF' switch, as a safety device to protect the instrument from any extensive damage in case of any fault.
B. Right Side Panel : -
I. 16-CHARACTER ALPHANUMERIC BACKLIT LCD DISPLAY for indication of various Parameters such as, operating modes M1, M2 or M3, twist type S or Z, sample number, sample length, measuring parameters (TPM or TPI etc.)
II. Keyboard:- has 16 soft touch keys. The function of each key is explained below.
1. S/Z - For selection of type of twist (twist direction) of yarn.
2. TPM/TPI - For selection to display TPM or TPI count of twisted yarn.
3. MODE - For selection of 3 measuring modes, viz. M1, M2 or M3.
4. TEST LENGTH - For setting of desired test length of the yarn under test.
5. SET TWIST - For setting of expected TPM or TPI value in Mode M1.
6. RESET - For resetting the TPM/TPI count to zero.
7. S.NO/AVG - For selection of sample reading in memory or Avg. value.
8. FOR - For opening the remaining twists of yarn under test after automatic
stop of the motor after reaching the set twist counts in Mode M1.
9. REV - For opening the twists of over-run test i.e. after fully untwisting
of yarn and twist in opposite direction has taken place in Mode M1 (If setting of twists count is done more than expected TPM).
10. INC - For scrolling of sample nos. 1 to 20 or with 'TEST LENGTH' key is
activated, setting to desired test length of yarn in upward direction (Test
length motor clockwise direction) or with 'SET TWIST' key is activated,
setting of desired twist counts (normally 90 to 95% of expected TPM) in
upward direction.
11. DE -For scrolling of sample nos. 20 to 1 or with 'TEST LENGTH' key
is activated, setting to desired test length of yarn in downward
direction (Test Length Motor anti-clockwise direction) or with 'SET
TWIST' key is activated, setting of desired twist counts in
downward direction.
12. ENTER - For entering the test length and set twist values in Mode M1 or for
entering the last sample test results in memory (Maximum 20
samples).
13. START - For starting the test in desired Mode M1, M2 or M3.
14. Clear - For clearing sample results from memory or with average value
selected on display, for clearing all 20 samples readings stored in the
memory.
15. Prog - To enter into programming mode.
(Explained in detail in section Programming).
16. Stop – For Manual stopping of test selected Mode M1, M2 or M3.
III. SENSOR (GREEN LED) - For indication of proper sensor setting position before start of a test in Mode M2 or M3 or to ensure proper Test Length of yarn under test in Mode M1.
IV. SPEED KNOB - For setting the desired speed of motor for untwisting of twisted yarn in Mode M1 or untwist / re-twist of yarn in Mode M2 or M3.
Stop (red led) – For manual stopping of test in selected Mode M1, M2 Or M3.
PROCEDURE TO SET TEST LENGTH IN PROGRAMMED MODE
1. Switch ON the power to the instrument while "TEST LENGTH' & 'STOP' keys pressed simultaneously.
2. Following message will appear or LCD Display –
“Twist Tester V-1.”
3. After few seconds, the indication changes to
“Set len 0500 mm”.
4. See the edge of yarn clamp on motor shaft. If it is at 495 mm, then set the value as 0495 with help of 'INC' or 'DEC' key and press 'ENTER'. If the edge is found at 490, then enter the value as 0490.
5. After press of 'ENTER' key, the unit enters normal operational mode.
This procedure is necessary to match the actual test length with displayed value
